This article is very silly. They position this new single-board computer against the :raspberrypi: Raspberry Pi, because it's also a single board, and say that this computer is "a little bigger" than the Pi.

Then at the very end of the article they mention that it costs between $615 and $949.

You guys.

That's not a Raspberry Pi competitor, that's a Mac Mini competitor. This is a false Equivalence.

Description of social media platforms from @mjdescy:

Twitter is for outrage. Facebook and Instagram are for bragging. LinkedIn is for faking it until you make it. All of them are for selling.

Brilliant and true.

I've been addicted to journals for a few years now, but WOW the latest edition is beautiful. Also I'm always happy when they do lined journals instead of gridded ones. I'm a writer more than a doodler.

Cleaned out my desk at work today, my company has decided that we really aren’t working in an office any more. I’ll kind of miss it, but honestly not all that much.

Things I am taking camping:

- Goblin Quest
- Amazing Tales
- Index Card RPG
- Random Fun Generator (a book full of games you can play with just d6’s)

I thought about taking The Fantasy Trip, but needs more maps than I can really pack comfortably.

My kids love TTRPGs, I’m wondering how many of their cousins will join in when we’re in the mountains.

Further thoughts about how we use text on the web, thinking about @wouter 's comments on my "Web Primativism" article, and how we can do a little more.

A view of an article I wrote about simplified web pages, as seen through @matt 's new "tiny" view of @write_as :writeas: blogs. Simple styles, no web fonts, just text. I like it.

slight brag

The highest-paid software developer in my organization is now an Asian-American woman, which is perfect, because she’s also the best developer we have. So grateful to my department’s leaders for doing what is right.

Whenever social media "engagement" posts say things like "tell us about your favorite experience with our product!" my gut reaction is to yell "NO!" and unfollow that social media channel. I may not be the target market for that kind of advertising. If I am, they are doing it very wrong.

:dnd: Story, likely very common. I added a detail about an NPC to make them more interesting. The players focused entirely on that detail, spending 45 minutes going entirely off the rails while I made up more and more stuff to try and lead them back to the actual story. In other words: It was a really fun session!

USPOL, positive-ish

I can't even express how nice it is to have a 𝑏𝑜𝑟𝑖𝑛𝑔 president again.

I'm listening to the soundtrack from "Little Big Adventure 1" Which I bought because I 𝑙𝑜𝑣𝑒𝑑 the game back in the 90's when it was new.

I remember it being revolutionary at the time because you could put it in a regular CD player and listen to the soundtrack (as long as you skipped "track 1" which was, you know, 𝑡𝒉𝑒 𝑎𝑐𝑡𝑢𝑎𝑙 𝑔𝑎𝑚𝑒.

I also was impressed that they used real instruments in a video game soundtrack. Listening to it now, they definitely didn't. That's okay "LBA's Theme" is gorgeous.

Fun with English:

“I knew new clay I needed needed kneaded”

It still makes me laugh that the Romans got to Scotland, said “no, absolutely not” and built a wall all the way across the island to emphasize their point. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Hey Chromium, Dear Firefox. You two realize you're not actually a virtual machine, right?

Could you please stop fighting over who can use the most memory? It's not a contest.

Slightly grumpy, remote work

We are past the point where it is acceptable to say "I can't find the mute button" in remote meetings. You've had plenty of time to figure this out, friends.

Today I'm performing interviews for the position that, when hired, will be my boss. This is the first time I've ever done that. It's a weird feeling.

The problem with being able to visit fully vaccinated people is that I no longer have an iron clad excuse for never going anywhere.

I “won” RimWorld again, but this time I sent out three colonists to start a new colony as the original group left to the stars. It’s kind of the “new game+” option.

My tolerance for Friday afternoon meetings is inversely proportional to the number of meetings I've had throughout the week. There should be a law...
