Why do we put most currency symbols before the number, like $𝟓.𝟗𝟗, but the cent symbol after the number, like 𝟗𝟗¢?

TFW your crush from high school calls you a handsome guy on social media...twenty five years after you graduate, 22 years after you've seen each other in person, and you've both been married for > 15 years.

Honestly? It's just nice. Surprisingly angst-free. Am...am I finally growing up???

Eye Contact

Like so many other uncreative middle-age dudes I've been letting my hair grow long while in quarantine. Which means I actually have to deal with it.

My current favorite thing to do is just comb it straight back. It's comfortable and out of the way. The only problem is that I look like I'm planning on eating your entire family.

Foodposting

Homemade from scratch, gluten-free pizza crust. It turned out pretty good! We're starting to figure this whole Celiac Disease thing out.

i just wrote a post about meeting one of my heroes...twenty four years ago.

Better late than never, I guess.

If you haven't played Hypnospace Outlaw and were online at all during the late 90's/early 2000's, you need to play it.

It's a short game, but well crafted, and I find myself thinking about it all the time. It made a lot of good points about early internet culture in a simple and charming way.

If you can't play it, at least enjoy the awesome cover art for Parts 1 & 2 of the OST.

The weather locally is at that perfect magical point where we can turn off heating and cooling and just leave the windows open. It was freezing last week, it'll be too hot...probably tomorrow, but for now it's perfect.

Rimworld and Rimworld Royalty soundtracks are EXCELLENT music for when you need to focus on thought-heavy tasks and also block out local noises. Which makes sense, since that's most of what the game is about.

For the past month or so I’ve had a standing early morning online game appointment with my friend. I slept through it this morning and the whole day has been just a little bit less good.

Friendship is powerful, y’all.

Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda is the second best Star Trek after TNG. (don't @ me). Proof: they aren't afraid to have totally insane plots like this:

"The Andromeda end up in the Prolon System where they discover a hibernation capsule occupied by a woman impersonating a dead princess."

Come on. Tell me you don't want to watch that right now.

(Andromeda is currently streaming free with ads on Plex's TV and Movies service)

In this quarantime I've been grateful for :ffxivmsq_comp: Final Fantasy XIV, and the ability to wander a world with friends. Seeing new sites together, however virtual, has been awesome.

My friend just introduced me to boardgamearena.com and I’m quite grateful. They make online versions of games with the full support of the original publisher, either free with (board game) ads or with a yearly subscription that’s less than the cost of any ONE of the games. You can play in real time or turn-based over days, all in your browser. It’s pretty good stuff! DM me if you sign up, let’s play together!

my inexpensive standing desk converter on top of a "desk" that is actually just two cabinets with a desktop resting across them. I have a good feeling about this!

Bought an inexpensive sit-stand desk converter since it looks like I'll be working from home for a while now. I'm not quite ready to commit to a treadmill desk but the thought is there...

I don't love standing all day, but I definitely loathe sitting all day.
