Finally found a use for geofencing on my phone. I now get an alert to wash my hands whenever I come home.

July 24th is a state holiday, so as a state employee I get a three-day weekend this week. I took today off as well, to just write, read, watch movies, and play games. Tomorrow I'll be a good family man, today I'm going to practice some self care. Halfway through the work day and this has been the vacation I've had in a while.

One of the fun things about raising kids is teaching them English. "Yes, I know it's spelled 'epi-TOME', but for some reason it's pronounced 'e-PIT-o-me'"

After gushing to @ElleMoreen about the usefulness of ‘git bisect’ for discovering at what point something broke, she said what I’ve always thought: “I need version control for my life.”

I got the words "Jacuzzi" and "Yakuza" confused

Now I'm in hot water with the Japanese mafia.

I should be writing or doing productive dad stuff. Instead I’m listening to Boston. I don’t even particularly like Boston, but it’s a Boston kind of evening.

Hey writer-type friends! I've been enjoying the experience of writing over at midnight.pub. It's a charming little alpha-level experiment in creating a writing community, and so far I've found it pretty amazing. I have a few invite codes to give away, DM me if you would like one.

I guess I'm officially old. The number of posts on the federated timeline that I just plain can't decipher or understand is very, very high.

Poor Birdsite feels so desperate. I have intentionally kept my :mastodon: list of friends small. When the people I follow aren’t saying anything I don’t see anything. Twitter feels the need to stuff the feed with an infinite list of things friends of a friend of mine liked or whatever.

Also it’s a never ending crap storm interspersed with funny tweets from Tony Hawk.
