Smile, breathe and go slowly. ~ Thich Nhat Hanh

I think it's better than Chrome, as it's not constantly reporting back to Google. But it is, at best, a single piece of the "being safe online" puzzle.

Hey, you!

Yeah, you. The one reading this.

You're pretty cool!

Anyway. Just wanted to say that. Later!

At this point, I’m pretty sure that the tech industry uses “engagement” as a euphemism for “addiction.”

About six weeks into my light-mode revolution and so far I'm really liking it. All of my OSes and favorite editors have good light mode themes.

Except for the terminal. I mean, there are good light themes for iTerm et al, but that would also require changing my :vim: theme, and that's a three day process at least. 😆

I set up my :writefreely: writeFreely blog for this year's NaNoWriMo novel: 𝙋𝙖𝙘𝙞𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙖.

I've put up the introduction and first chapter, since they're already written. More will start going up on November 1st!

Comparison is the thief of joy. ~ Theodore Roosevelt

Okay, I've decided which book I'm working on for this year. It's one I've been working and re-working for years now, but I think this time is the one.

I've got a good feeling about this!

The blog should be up in a few hours, and I'll post some introductory stuff that I won't be counting in my word count, so I can get into the parts I've been meaning to completely rewrite when November 1st hits.

If you're running an adblock-blocker on your website, have you ever measured how many people actually turn it off and come back? And how many people you'll lose as visitors forever?

I'm really curious if someone collected data in that regard.

The difference between "real science" and "something my kids made up" is getting thinner and thinner.

Whether you're a 3D object designer or maker, stop using the STL format and switch to 3MF now!

Not only will you get smaller files, it can also handle and store more information like geometry, units, material & properties, or color data.

THIS JUST IN: Booker T. and the MGs are still incredible. Just listen to "Time is Tight". So. Good.

Family . The boys are playing the weird Avalon Hill version of Cosmic Encounter, wifey, three year old, and I are playing EuroRails. It’s a classic game night, I guess. So fun!

I have no right to say or do anything that diminishes a [person] in [their] own eyes. What matters is not what I think of [them], but what [they think] of [themselves]. Hurting a [person] in [their] dignity is a crime.

--Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (pronouns modernized)

Oh man, is next month. I should really decide which project I'm going to pursue this year. This is always an exciting time!

I should not get this excited by people announcing small notebooks. But here we are. The fall release is so gorgeous.

It's 2019. An eccentric billionaire is building a giant steel rocket to take passengers to the moon and maybe even Mars, using the money he made from building electric cars. Sci-fi is finally happening.
