I wrote about NaNoWriMo a while ago:
@nate That's really awesome and impressive! That's like half a million words over that time which is crazy to think about.
Out of curiosity, did it get easier with each year to write another 50,000 words during NaNoWriMo? Are you doing it again this year?
@mara_cav_ yes and yes. 1,667 words a day isn’t a sustainable pace long term, at least, not for me, with everything else I usually have going on. (One of my children was born in November, THAT year was a hard one to finish!) but that’s okay. Some weeks I write 800 words on the weekdays and 3,000 on Saturday. Its a good exercise in turning off the inner editor and just letting the characters go where they want.
@mara_cav_ If you do decide to do NaNo this year I’d be happy to be “writing buddies” on the site. Sometimes it’s helpful to look at where your writing buddies all are and say “ugh, gotta catch up!” And sometimes it’s fun to say “sweet I’m in the lead! Time to pile on another 400 words to stay in the lead!” 😁
Basically any excuse to keep writing.
@nate Okay, cool. I'm kind of going back and forth between doing it or not. So it's still a toss-up whether or not I'll participate as of right now. But if I do participate, being writing buddies would be nice! I'd appreciate that.
